In live, occupied and mission-critical environments, health, safety and operational continuity have to be engineered into the project. They cannot be added once construction begins.
Voltarra applies one corporate baseline across its operations, then identifies the legal, client and project-specific requirements of each location. The requirement providing the highest level of protection is applied unless it conflicts with mandatory local law.
Managing risk before it reaches site
The most effective construction control is often a decision made earlier in design. Access, lifting, temporary works, isolations, energisation, sequencing, maintainability and commissioning all create risks that can be reduced before the workface is established.
Voltarra brings delivery and specialist knowledge into design so those risks can be eliminated, reduced or controlled while the solution can still change.

Leadership & accountability
The Board retains accountability for corporate health, safety and environmental standards. Project leaders identify local requirements, appoint competent support, provide resources and enforce the approved controls.
Risk prevention
Hazards are eliminated where reasonably practicable. Remaining risks are assessed and managed through the hierarchy of controls before reliance is placed on procedures or personal protective equipment.
High-risk activities
Electrical energisation and isolation, lifting, work at height, temporary works and other project-defined high-risk activities require competent ownership and staged approval.
Stop-work authority
Every person may and must stop work where there is immediate danger, a material departure from the approved plan or an absent critical control, without fear of reprisal.
Competence
People and organisations are selected, appointed and supervised according to the skills, knowledge, training, experience and capability required for their role.
Assurance & learning
Project plans, legal registers and regional requirements are controlled. Audits, inspections, hazards, incidents and actions are recorded and tracked to verified close-out, with relevant learning reflected in future standards and project controls.

A data hall, laboratory, workplace or critical facility may need to remain operational while work takes place around it. Sequenced isolations, temporary provisions, controlled access, out-of-hours tie-ins and recovery planning are developed from the outset so that critical services remain protected.
